Higher survivor benefits for ALS deaths
If enacted, surviving spouses, children, and other survivors of a veteran who died from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) would be able to get the higher Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC) rate. The Secretary of Veterans Affairs would have to determine the veteran died from ALS. The change would apply to veterans who died from ALS on or after October 1, 2022.
