New tribal advisory committee for elders

If enacted, the bill would create an 11-member Older Americans Tribal Advisory Committee. The Committee must meet at least twice yearly, include at least one Alaskan Native and one Native Hawaiian, and send an annual report. The Assistant Secretary would have to reply in writing within 45 days. Members would be paid at the daily rate equivalent to Executive Schedule level IV and funded from section 216(a) appropriations.

Training for tribal elder service providers

If enacted, Title VI tribal grantees would get technical assistance and training to build organizational capacity. Topics could include program management, data use, grant writing, and staff certification. The change would take effect upon enactment.
