Limit United States military action against Iran

This joint resolution would direct the President to remove United States Armed Forces from hostilities within or against the Islamic Republic of Iran unless Congress explicitly authorizes those hostilities by a declaration of war or a specific authorization for use of military force. It would apply to hostilities not explicitly authorized by Congress and would take effect upon enactment. The bill would not stop the United States from defending against an attack on the United States or its personnel or facilities located in other nations. It would allow collecting, analyzing, and sharing intelligence about threats from Iran or its proxies, including with Israel and partner countries attacked by Iran since February 28, 2026. It would also allow assisting Israel and partner countries attacked by Iran since February 28, 2026, and other nations, to directly defend against retaliatory attacks, including by providing defensive materiel support. The directive would be issued pursuant to 50 U.S.C. 1546a and in accordance with section 601(b) of Public Law 94-329.
