Summary
This resolution honors the life and legacy of George Foreman as a boxing champion, community leader, and entrepreneur. Born January 10, 1949, and raised in Houston, Foreman moved from Job Corps training to win heavyweight Olympic gold in 1968 and turn professional in 1969. He recorded 37 consecutive victories, won the world heavyweight title in 1973, reclaimed it in 1994 as the oldest heavyweight champion, and finished his career 76–5. He became an ordained minister, opened a youth center in Houston, sold more than 100 million George Foreman grills, and died March 21, 2025, survived by his wife Mary Joan and his children.
