Sponsored By: Senator Roger Wicker
Introduced
Summary
National Osteopathic Medicine Week would designate April 14 through April 20, 2025 to honor osteopathic medicine and its contributions to U.S. health care. The resolution would acknowledge 150 years of osteopathic medicine and recognize more than 157,000 osteopathic physicians and nearly 40,000 osteopathic medical students. It would note the field’s whole-person, patient-centered approach and its roots in principles introduced by Andrew Taylor Still in 1874. The text would also highlight a more than 70 percent growth in osteopathic physicians over the past 10 years and celebrate the role colleges of osteopathic medicine play in training physicians across the States, including in rural and underserved communities.
