The resolution would mark April 22, 2026 as Earth Day and highlights Earth Day's youth-led origins and global reach, Nelson's leadership and recognition, scientific warnings about accelerating climate change and pollution, threats to coastal, rural, and agricultural communities, disproportionate harm to low-income communities and communities of color, and the legacy of landmark laws such as the Clean Air Act, the Federal Water Pollution Control Act, and the Endangered Species Act.
