Published Date: 9/11/2025

Rule

Summary

If you own a Tecnam P-Mentor airplane, listen up! The FAA found a problem with the pilot seat locks that could be unsafe. They now require regular checks and fixes for the seat rails, but there’s a one-time fix option to stop the inspections. Keep your plane safe and follow the new rules to avoid any trouble!

Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 0 benefits, 0 costs, 2 mixed.

Mandatory seat-rail inspections required

If you own or operate a Tecnam Model P-Mentor airplane, the FAA now requires an initial and repetitive inspection of the pilot and co‑pilot seat rails. You must complete any corrective action found during those inspections to address a failure of the pilot seat locking mechanism.

One-time fix can stop inspections

The AD includes an optional terminating action: you can perform a one-time corrective action that ends the requirement for repetitive inspections of the seat rails. Choosing this optional terminating action replaces the need for the repeated inspections set by the AD.
