(a) The following provisions of this article shall not apply to a doctor of medicine or a doctor of osteopathy licensed to practice medicine in this state who serves as a coroner or deputy coroner: (1) Subsections (d), (e), and (i) of Section 11-5-31. (2) Subdivision (7) of subsection (a) and subsection (b) of Section 11-5-33. (b) Any rule promulgated by the commission pursuant to its authority under any of the sections listed in subdivisions (1) or (2) of subsection (a) shall not apply to a doctor of medicine or a doctor of osteopathy licensed to practice medicine in this state.
