Any electric cooperative presently or hereafter organized and any corporation converted into an electric cooperative under the provisions of Article 1 of this chapter shall have, in addition to its present or other powers, the power to furnish
telephone service in rural areas to its members and the persons it serves, in the manner provided in this article.
