The commission may employ an executive director, who shall serve at the pleasure of the commission and who shall be responsible directly to the commission for the general supervision and execution of the work of the commission. The commission shall fix his or her compensation, with the approval of the Governor and the State
Personnel Board, the same to be paid from the funds of the commission, and shall further designate his or her duties and authority.
