(a) Extortion by means of a threat, as defined in paragraphs (13)a or (13)c of Section 13A-8-1, constitutes extortion in the first degree. (b) Extortion in the first degree is a Class B felony. (Acts 1977, No. 607, p. 812, §3236.)
