(a) The Superintendent of the Arkansas School for the Deaf and Blind may select employees of the Arkansas School for the Deaf and Blind in consultation with the Secretary of the Department of Education in accordance with state law, reporting the same for approval to the Board of Trustees of the Arkansas School for the Deaf and Blind at the next regular meeting of the board.

(b) Each employee of the school, as a state employee, shall be subject to and receive the benefits of the provisions of Title 21 of the Arkansas Code, including without limitation policies and procedures established for the implementation of all provisions that are applicable to state employees.

(c) A teacher for a student with sensory impairments is eligible for a salary differential after he or she becomes certified by the Department of Education in teaching students who are blind, visually impaired, deaf, or hard of hearing.
