(a) (1) The Attorney General shall establish and publish procedures to receive complaints concerning violations of election law.(2) The procedures shall include the operation of a toll-free hotline and may include procedures to receive written complaints through the mail, email, or fax.(3) Knowingly filing a false claim of a violation of election law is a Class A misdemeanor punishable under § 7-1-103(c).

(b) (1) The State Board of Election Commissioners shall report all complaints received through the election law violation hotline to the Joint Performance Review Committee in the report required under § 7-4-304.(2) The report may contain preliminary findings by the State Board of Election Commissioners as to the validity of the complaint if the full investigation is not complete.
