It is the intent of the Legislature that the public institutions of higher education shall apply uniform rules, as set forth in this chapter and not otherwise, in determining whether a student shall be classified as resident or a nonresident. (Enacted by Stats. 1976, Ch. 1010.)

“Institution” means the University of California, the California State University, or a college of the California Community Colleges.
