Sec. 7-286. Police matrons in certain cities. In each city of this state having a population of twenty thousand or more, as shown by the last-preceding United States census, the board of police commissioners or police committee shall appoint a police matron, whose duty it shall be to take charge of all women arrested and held by the police of the city.
