In applying and construing this uniform Act, consideration shall be given to the need to promote uniformity of the law with respect to its subject matter among states that enact it. History. — Code 1981, § 38-3-171, enacted by Ga. L. 2016, p. 296, § 1/SB 230. ARTICLE 12 EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS AUTHORITY Effective date. — This article became effective January 1, 2019. L. 2018, p. 689, § 4-1/HB 751, not codified by the General Assembly, provides that: ‘‘(a) This Act shall become effective July 1, 2018, for the purposes of creating the Georgia Emergency Communications Authority and appointing the members thereof and the enactment of Section 2-11 and the provisions regarding billing practices contained in subsection (d) of Code Section 38-3-189. For all other purposes, this Act shall become effective on January 1, 2019. ‘‘(b) The provisions of this Act shall not in any manner diminish, extinguish, reduce, or affect any cause of action for audits, services, or the recovery of funds from service providers which may have existed prior to January 1, 2019. Any such cause of action is expressly preserved.’’
