(a) In addition to the National Family Violence Awareness Month observed each October, the last week of September of each year is hereby designated as “Family Violence Prevention Week,” a week to reflect, review and assess Guam’s progress as a community as a whole towards preventing and dealing with family violence and to determine what further steps must be taken, to continue a comprehensive effort of education on family violence and to renew the community’s commitment to protecting Guam’s families. (b) I Maga’hågan/Maga’låhen Guåhan shall issue annually a proclamation calling on all interested and concerned to observe “Family Violence Prevention Week” and Family Violence Awareness Month, by joining together for a continuing commitment and in a cooperative effort, to preserve the integrity and harmony of Guam’s families. (c) I Maga’hågan/Maga’låhen Guåhan shall appoint a “Family Violence Prevention Week Committee” to plan and make appropriate arrangements for the observation of “Family Violence Prevention Week.” SOURCE: Added as § 10.35 by P.L. 24-239:35 (Aug. 14, 1998), codified by the Compiler as § 1035.
