June 12 of each year is officially declared as Women Veterans Recognition Day to recognize the role of women in the U.S. Armed Forces and to commemorate their sacrifices and the valor displayed by Guam women veterans. I Maga’håga/Maga’låhi shall issue a proclamation annually calling upon the people of Guam to observe Women Veterans Recognition Day, and shall appoint a Women Veterans Recognition Day Committee to plan and make appropriate arrangements for the observance of this day. may consist of representatives from relevant government entities including, but not limited to, the Guam Office of Veterans Affairs and the Guam Veterans Commission, and other interested individuals and community organizations.
