(a) Any person who shall practice a healing art in any of its branches, or shall treat human ailments by any system whatsoever, without a valid existing license or exemption from licensure under the provisions of this Chapter, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor upon conviction for the first offense and a felony for second and subsequent offenses. (b) The specific statutory provisions imposing criminal sanctions for unlawful practices of nursing, dentistry, optometry and pharmacy shall apply to persons practicing one of those professions unlawfully.
