Except as specifically provided in this Article, this Article concerns itself with private writings only. SOURCE: New Section. COMMENT: Much of former CCP Ch. 3, Article 3 is covered in Division 1. This Article contains those portions of the former law not covered in Division 1 -- those which deal with the effect of this evidence, as opposed to its admission. This Section is required because of the similarity between the admission of public and private writings. While there is similarity, the sections are not identical.
