be covered with a minimum of two (2) feet of earth. During use, fresh deposits of excreta shall be covered with sufficient earth or lime to exclude flies and prevent odors. Pits shall be closed and sealed when the level of excreta reaches within two (2) feet of the earth’s surface. A new pit shall be built to replace the old one if other sewage facilities are not available.
