Gross Weight Defined: How Determined

16 GCA § 7162 — under Vehicle License and Registration.

16 GCA § 7162

Upon application for registration or renewal of registration of any vehicle subject to registration under this Title, the Director of Revenue and Taxation or her/his designated representative shall determine the gross weight of such vehicle. For the purpose of determining license and registration fees, gross weight of non-commercial vehicles and of truck-tractors (used for pulling semi-trailers) means the total weight of the vehicle including all attachments, accessories, and additions thereto. Gross weight of commercial vehicles means the total weight of the vehicles including all attachments, accessories, and additions thereto plus the carrying capacity. In determining gross weights the Director of Revenue and Taxation may be guided by the manufacturer’s shipping weight and carrying capacity and may use such other information and means as are expedient for the purpose.
