Sec. 8. (a) An individual may request treatment under this chapter or the court may order an evaluation of the individual to determine if the individual is an appropriate candidate for forensic diversion. (b) A request for treatment or an order for an evaluation under this chapter tolls the running of the speedy trial time period until the court has made a determination of eligibility for the program under this section.
