Limitation of powers of counties and municipalities; dog

licensing fees; legalizing of ordinance Sec. 9. (a) Except as provided in subsection (b), after July 1, 2006, a county or a municipality (as defined in IC 36-1-2-11) of the county may not adopt an ordinance implementing a licensing system for dogs unless the county option dog tax under this chapter is in effect in the county. (b) If: (1) a county adopted an ordinance implementing a licensing system for dogs: (A) after December 31, 2006; and (B) before February 1, 2007; and (2) the county did not first adopt the county option dog tax; the ordinance is legalized.
