Prohibitions to appointment.

A member of a county magistrate appointing commission shall not be appointed to the office of magistrate. A member of the commission shall not be eligible to vote for the appointment or nomination of a family member, current law partner, or current business partner. For purposes of this section , “family member” means a spouse, son, daughter, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, first cousin, nephew, niece, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, father, mother, stepfather, stepmother, stepson, stepdaughter, stepbrother, stepsister, half brother, or half sister. 83 Acts, ch 186, §7502, 10201 ; 2007 Acts, ch 86, §8 ; 2022 Acts, ch 1033, §9
