12-2531. Same; term of office; term limitations. (a) Persons appointed to fill vacancies shall be nominated and appointed in the manner provided in K.S.A. 12-2529, and amendments thereto, for terms of four years each or for the unexpired terms of their predecessors. (b) Each commissioner shall hold office until a successor has been appointed and qualified. (c) (1) Subject to the provisions of paragraph (2), no person shall be appointed to more than two consecutive terms. A commissioner appointed to serve an unexpired term of more than two years may be appointed only to one additional consecutive four-year term. (2) The provisions of paragraph (1) shall become effective upon the effective date of a law enacted in the state of Missouri which limits appointment of commissioners to no more than two consecutive terms. (3) The provisions of this subsection (c) shall apply to terms of members commencing prior to and on and after the effective date of this act.
