20-1603. CASE ANNOTATIONS 1. May render judgment by default after time allotted to plead. Schockman v. Williams, 76 Kan. 299, 300, 91 P. 64. 2. Court has same criminal jurisdiction as justice of the peace. State, ex rel., v. Court of Coffeyville, 123 Kan. 774, 256 P. 804. 3. City courts have same jurisdiction in criminal cases as do justices of the peace. State v. Jordan, 193 Kan. 664, 666, 396 P.2d 370. Certiorari denied: 380 U.S. 920. 4. Court has same criminal jurisdiction as justices of peace; court has no jurisdiction to arraign accused or accept plea of guilty. McCuan v. State, 196 Kan. 457, 460, 413 P.2d 69.
