46-223. "Person" defined. "Person" means an individual, proprietorship, partnership, limited partnership, association, trust, estate, business trust, group, or corporation, whether or not operated for profit, or a governmental agency unit, or subdivision. History: L. 1974, ch. 353, § 9; March 28. Governmental Ethics Commission Opinions: Kansas Turnpike Authority (KTA) is a state agency; limitation on gifts from KTA to legislators. 93-38. School district classified employee may serve on district's board of education; participation in decisions affecting classified employees; board member's spouse employed teacher; participation in teacher's contract decisions. 95-9. Participation in making of contracts between governmental agencies. 96-29. State officers or employees soliciting sponsors for annual meeting of national conference of state officials. 97-48. State agency providing gifts, including travel to other state officers and employees including members of legislature. 98-2. State legislator serving as member of city council; voting. 98-5. State historical society providing legislators and their staff a discount on sale of merchandise from tourist information center. 1998-32. Computer websites which contain political viewpoints; need to register as lobbyist. 1999-48. State agency sponsoring conference may offer free registration to governor, governor's cabinet and legislators. 2000-06. Legislators who receive a scholarship (gift) of $500 or more must report on statement of substantial interest form. 2008-04. Legislators may participate in the health caucus or legislative health academy and be paid per diem. 2009-5.
