53-401. Accession to Hague convention; procedure for certification of document. (a) The state of Kansas hereby declares its intent to accede to the Hague convention abolishing the requirement of legalization for foreign public documents. (b) Upon presentation of a public document to which the convention applies, the secretary of state, or an assistant or deputy assistant secretary of state appointed pursuant to K.S.A. 75-412, shall affix to the document the certificate required by the convention. The secretary of state shall maintain a record of all documents certified under this section and shall charge $5 for certification of any such document. History: L. 1981, ch. 318, § 1; July 1.
