55-425. Standards for tests; test methods and equipment. (a) Whenever possible, in making any test pursuant to this act, the secretary shall use methods and equipment similar to those methods and equipment adopted by the American society for testing materials. Such methods of testing shall be prescribed by rules and regulations. Methods of testing in existence prior to the effective date of the act shall continue until changed by rules and regulations adopted pursuant to the provisions of this act. (b) The secretary is hereby authorized to enter into contracts for the testing of petroleum products pursuant to the provisions of this act. (c) The secretary is authorized to adopt, by rules and regulations, any additional methods of testing petroleum products and standards setting forth specifications, tolerances and other technical requirements for the equipment used in performing such tests. In establishing rules and regulations pursuant to this subsection, the secretary shall conform to the standards of the American society for testing materials whenever possible. Specifications, tolerances and other technical requirements for the testing equipment in existence prior to the effective date of the act shall continue until changed by rules and regulations adopted pursuant to the provisions of this act.
