65-28b09. Same; advisory council. (a) There is hereby established a nurse-midwives council to advise the board in carrying out the provisions of this act. The council shall consist of seven members, all residents of the state of Kansas appointed as follows: Two members shall be licensees of the board, appointed by the board, who are licensed to practice medicine and surgery and whose specialty and customary practice includes obstetrics; one member shall be the president of the board or a board member designated by the president; and four members shall be licensed certified nurse-midwives appointed by the board of nursing. (b) If a vacancy occurs on the council, the appointing authority of the position which has become vacant shall appoint a person of like qualifications to fill the vacant position for the unexpired term, if any.
