65-6752. Definitions. As used in K.S.A. 2025 Supp. 65-6752 through 65-6758, and amendments thereto: (a) "Abortion" means the same as defined in K.S.A. 65-6701, and amendments thereto. (b) "Born alive" means the complete expulsion or extraction of a human being from its mother, at any stage of development, who, after such expulsion or extraction, breathes or has a beating heart, pulsation of the umbilical cord or definite movement of voluntary muscles, regardless of whether the umbilical cord has been cut and regardless of whether the expulsion or extraction occurs as a result of natural or induced labor, cesarean section or induced abortion. (c) "Healthcare provider" means a physician, licensed physician assistant, licensed advanced practice registered nurse or person licensed, registered, certified or otherwise authorized to practice by the behavioral sciences regulatory board.
