74-4919k. Election by certain members age 70 or older to make contributions and purchase certain service credit; procedure; effect. (a) Any member age 70 or older, who is a member of the Kansas public employees retirement system under the law in effect on June 17, 1983, may, after June 18, 1983, elect to be covered by the provisions of K.S.A. 74-4919 to 74-4919j, inclusive, and 74-4939, and amendments to these sections. (b) No such person shall be covered by such provisions unless such person files a written statement of election with the board of trustees. Each election by filing a written statement of election under this section shall be effective on the first day of the first payroll period of the reporting quarter coinciding with or following the date of such filing and shall be irrevocable.
