74-49a28. Retirement for certain member. In the event that a person who became a member of the Kansas public employees retirement system on September 1, 1962, was first employed by a participating employer on August 8, 1961, and became totally disabled on September 9, 1965, and is not otherwise eligible for retirement benefits, such member may elect to receive in lieu of his accumulated contributions a retirement benefit calculated as if the member had attained age 65 and had been actively employed until the effective date of this act. Such benefits shall accrue from the first day of the month coinciding with or following the effective date of this act. History: L. 1971, ch. 257, § 1; April 9.
