8-1575. Driving upon sidewalk. No person shall drive any vehicle upon a sidewalk or sidewalk area except upon a permanent or duly authorized temporary driveway. History: L. 1974, ch. 33, § 8-1575; July 1. Source or prior law: 8-569a. Attorney General's Opinions: The prohibition against driving vehicles on a sidewalk applies to golf carts when the pathway at issue meets the definition of sidewalk in K.S.A. 8-1465. Cities may not use home rule authority to authorize the driving of golf carts on sidewalks because the Uniform Act Regulating Traffic on Highways applies uniformly to all cities. 2025-6.
