84-4-206. Transfer between banks. Any agreed method that identifies the transferor bank is sufficient for the item's further transfer to another bank. The amendments are stylistic and are not meant to change the substantive law. Since all collecting banks are, in general, agents of the depositor rather than successive owners of an item passing through, indorsements in the usual sense are unnecessary; nevertheless, evidence of transfer of an item from bank to bank is broadly referred to as indorsement. Banks normally use some evidence of inter-bank transfer. The UCC encourages the simplest possible evidence by requiring only that the method identify the transferor bank.
