In 2016, the Legislature created the Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services (MDCPS) as a stand-alone agency to replace the functions of the Department of Children and Family Services inside the Mississippi Department of Human Services (MDHS). That statute, however, did not fully separate MDCPS from MDHS. In 2023, the Legislature finally completed the legislative process of separating MDCPS from MDHS, granting MDCPS the authority to formulate policy and promulgate rules

This Administrative Code is being filed to correspond with MS SPA 24-0010 allowing the Division of Medicaid to provide coverage of ambulatory prenatal care to pregnant women deemed presumptively eligible by a qualified provider
