(1) The commissioner may assess a civil penalty against a person that violates this chapter or a rule or regulation adopted or an order issued under this chapter in an amount not to exceed One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) per day for each day the violation is outstanding, plus this state’s costs and expenses for the investigation and prosecution of the matter, including reasonable attorney’s fees.
(2) If any person engages in business as provided for in this chapter without paying the license fee provided for in this chapter before beginning business or before the expiration of the person’s current license, as the case may be, then the person shall be liable for the full amount of the license fee plus a penalty in an amount not to exceed One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) for each day that the person has engaged in the business without a license or after the expiration of a license.
