Adopted in 1992 by Initiative 407 and in 1994 by Initiative 408. Omitted because of the decisions of the Nebraska Supreme Court in Duggan v. Beermann, 245 Neb. 907, 515 N.W.2d 788 (1994) and Duggan v. Beermann, 249 Neb. 411, 544 N.W.2d 68 (1996). The omitted language read, "(1) The members of the Board of Regents and the State Board of Education shall be ineligible to file for re-election to their respective offices and shall be ineligible to file for re-election to their respective offices and shall be ineligible to serve in their respective offices for a number of years equal to the term for which they were last elected next after the expiration of the second of two consecutive terms for which they were previously elected after the general election and as further provided in Article XV Section 22. (2) The voters of the state may lengthen, shorten, or eliminate the limitation on terms of office for the State Board of Education or the governing board of a state institution of higher education imposed by this Section 15."
