NMSA 1978, § 24-12-3

A. A person who conducts a post-mortem examination on an unclaimed body without express permission of the medical investigator is guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be sentenced pursuant to the provisions of Section 31-19-1 NMSA 1978. B. A person who unlawfully disposes of, uses or sells an unclaimed body is guilty of a fourth degree felony and shall be sentenced pursuant to the provisions of Section 31- 18-15 NMSA 1978.
