Board of Trustees: Establishment. (a) There shall be a Board of Trustees for the Northern Marianas Technical Institute composed of seven members who shall be appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate. The Board of Trustees shall be comprised of: (1) At least one member shall be a resident of Tinian and one member shall be a resident of Rota; (2) At least one member shall be of Carolinian descent and at least one member shall be a woman; and (3) Out of the total seven members, at least five members shall represent businesses and industries, but not limited to* the Northern Marianas Business Alliance Corporation, the Saipan Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club and the Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands; the remaining two members of the Board of Trustees shall be from the general public. (b) The current members of the Board of Directors for Northern Marianas Trades Institute may be appointed to serve as members of the Board of Trustees for the Northern Marianas Technical Institute. For continuity purposes, the Governor has the option of appointing one or more of the current members of the Board of Directors for Northern Marianas Trades Institute to serve on the Board of Trustees for the Northern Marianas Technical Institute. Each newly appointed member of the Board of Trustees for the Northern Marianas Technical Institute must be confirmed by the Senate whether or not they have previously served on the Board of Directors for Northern Marianas Trades Institute. *So in original.
