Public Library Director: Duties and Qualifications. (a) The public library director shall advise the Library Council and shall be responsible for implementing the recommendations and policy set by the council. The public library director may hire and supervise such staff as may be necessary to assist in carrying out the library duties. In addition, the public library director shall be responsible for the completion of required reports and shall oversee interlibrary cooperative agreements. (b) The public library director shall hold a bachelor’s degree with at least five years of professional library leadership experience. (c)(1) Notwithstanding subsection (b), the public library director may hold a high school diploma with at least 15 years of professional library leadership experience. (2) Subsection (c)(1) shall automatically expire without further action upon such time that the public library director becomes vacant.
