Short Title. This chapter is known and may be cited as the Commonwealth Ports Authority Act. Source: PL 2-48, § 1. Commission Comment: PL 2-48 took effect October 8, 1981. Based on the “Mariana Islands Airport Authority Act” enacted as Congress of Micronesia PL 6-58 in 1975, PL 2-48 broadened the authority’s jurisdiction to include development and management of publicly-owned seaports, as well as airports. In the 1981 law, some obsolete terminology was carried over from the old act. In a few instances, typographical errors confused the meaning of the original act. To the extent that the Commission has identified these errors, they have been corrected in this codification.
