§ 20162. Duties and Responsibilities. The Commonwealth Office of Transit Authority's duties and responsibilities are as follows: (a) Formulate goals and objectives for the establishment of a public transportation system for the Commonwealth. (b) Develop and establish a public transportation system in the Commonwealth. (c) Seek, identify and apply for pertinent public transportation funds from the federal government. (d) Develop and implement public transportation policies and programs consistent with Commonwealth and federal laws. (e) Recommend necessary changes in CNMI laws to accomplish established goals and objectives. (f) Procure public transportation vehicles, equipment, and supplies. (g) Employ support staff necessary to carry out its duties and responsibilities. (h) Submit an annual report to the governor and the presiding officers of the Legislature pertaining to the operation, programs, and federal grants.
