Registration: Government Vehicles. (a) The registration requirements of this division apply to every vehicle owned by the Commonwealth government, except in the following particulars: (1) A license plate issued for any vehicle while publicly owned need not display a distinguishing symbol, word or letter. (2) The registration and registration card issued for any such vehicle need not be renewed annually but remains valid until the certificate of ownership for the vehicle is suspended, revoked or canceled by the bureau for cause or upon transfer of any interest in the certificate of ownership. Upon any change in ownership the vehicle shall be reregistered pursuant to the provisions of this division relating to any vehicle privately owned, and the special license plates previously issued for the vehicle while publicly owned shall be surrendered to the bureau. (3) The bureau may suspend, cancel, revoke or renew any permanent registration made under this section when the bureau determines that it is advisable to reissue any such registration. (b) Each vehicle purchased from revenue of the Commonwealth government, including its government corporations, agencies, boards or commissions, shall display a government license plate, pursuant to subsection (a) of this section.
