TITLE 1:

GENERAL PROVISIONS

§ 211. Official Seal. The official seal of the Commonwealth shall consist of a circular field of ocean blue having in its center a white star superimposed on a gray latte stone, surrounded by the traditional Carolinian mwáár consisting of the flowers langilang, flores mayo (seyúr), angagha, and teibwo, on the outer border, and the words encircling the mwáár, “Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands” and “Official Seal.” Source: PL 1-10, § 2; amended by PL 6-11, § 2. Commission Comment: PL 1-10, the “Commonwealth Seal Act of 1978,” took effect August 18, 1978. PL 6-11, § 2 conformed the statutory description with 1985 Constitutional Amendment 43, which specified a seal with a new design, as depicted below; see N.M.I. Const. art. XXII, § 1.
