§ 21101. Definitions. For purposes of this article: (a) “Dispense” or “dispensing” means the furnishing of drugs pursuant to a prescription in a suitable container, appropriately labeled for subsequent administration to, or use by, a patient or other individual entitled. (b) “Health care provider” means a person who is licensed, certified, or otherwise authorized by the laws of this Commonwealth to administer health care in the ordinary course of business or practice of a profession. (c) “Expedited partner therapy” means the prescribing or dispensing of antibiotic drugs to a practitioner’s diagnosed patient’s sexual partner or partners without examination of that diagnosed patient’s partner or partners. (d) “Prescribe” means the written or electronic instruction given to dispense a medication to a patient. (e) “Pharmacist” means a person licensed to practice pharmacy in the Commonwealth.
