§ 2209. Honor Scholarship for Tinian High School Valedictorian and Salutatorian. (a) In addition to the general municipal scholarship assistance, there is hereby established one-time undergraduate college honor scholarship award for the valedictorian and salutatorian of the Tinian High School each year who are pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree at an accredited college or university in the Commonwealth, the United States or its territories to pay for costs directly related to the student’s educational needs, including, but not limited to, tuition, textbooks and school supplies, transportation, and housing. (b) The amount allocated for each honor scholarship shall be a one-time scholarship award of $5,000 for the valedictorian and $2,500 for salutatorian attending a college or university in the Commonwealth, the United States or its territories subject to appropriation of funds. (c) The recipients of the honor scholarship shall comply with the provisions of this chapter. Source: Enacted by TLL 20-16 § 3 (Oct. 5, 2018), modified. Commission Comment: The Commission inserted a comma after “including”, and after “limited to” in (a) pursuant 1 CMC § 3806(g). TLL 20-16 § 3 renumbered the previous § 2209 to § 2210 and added a new § 2009.
