§ 2381. Historic Preservation Office. (a) There is in the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs a Historic Preservation Office, to be headed by a Historic Preservation Officer. The Historic Preservation Officer shall be within the civil service and shall be qualified either by training, experience, or education to carry out the purposes of this article. (b) Subject to budgetary appropriation, the office shall have a staff, including professionally qualified historians, anthropologists, and archaeologists, consistent with the requirements of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 [16 U.S.C. § 470 et seq.], and related federal regulations.
