§ 2441. Bounced Checks: Definitions. As used in this article: (a) “Bank” includes depository. (b) “Check” includes any draft or order upon any bank or depository or upon or to any person for the payment of money. (c) “Payee” includes any transferee of the payee. (d) “Person” includes any business, firm or corporation. Source: PL 4-35, § 3. Commission Comment: PL 4-35, the “Bad Checks Act of 1984,” took effect March 28, 1985. According to PL 4-35, § 2: “The Commonwealth Legislature finds it necessary to enact legislation to protect citizens and local businesses from habitual, repetitious, and irresponsible individuals who pass bad checks.”
